South Essex Youth Symphony OrchestraRegistered Charity Number : 1057748 SEYSO provides orchestral training for young musicians aged 11 upwards through a series of courses, workshop days and concerts featuring the great classics as well as modern and baroque pieces. Our programme for 2006 includes an orchestral workshop on the last Sunday in each month, exploring a variety of different styles under the direction of a team of experienced conductors and guided by specialist tutors. The venue is Southend High School for Boys Music Suite. Established in 1968, SEYSO remains the principal cross-school youth orchestra in the area and we are currently recruiting new members for the coming season with a special offer. Membership is open to young instrumentalists from about grade 4 on their instrument. For pre-grade 1 to grade 5, or at least one year's playing experience, an associated string group, the South Essex Youth Training Orchestra (SEYTO), meets at the same times and on the same premises. So almost all students of orchestral instruments are catered for. Subject to interest and confirmation, transport may be provided to specific venues for members living afar. All arrangements of activities (dates, times, venues and formats) are regularly reviewed and altered to best suit the members participating, so input from the members is considered very important in this process. Monthly repertoire days, consist of musical workshop under the direction
of a team of qualified tutors, and ending with a 45 minute public performance
of the material for parents and friends. Futher details are on the home page. SEYSO is recruiting new players to join. International Conductor Moshe Atzmon joined SEYSO for An Orchestral Masterclass on Sunday 26th March 2006. The Solaris Quartet have taken tutorials with SEYSO. The orchestra has toured the UK Wales, Scotland, York, Lancaster, the Channel Islands, Burnham on Crouch, Manningtree, Stirling. European tours include Austria, France, Switzerland, Germany, Luxemburg, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic Tours. You can see some pictures by clicking on the links in history.
