SEYSO Training Orchestra

Additional focussed training for lower grade / younger players in smaller groups is currently being organised in association with local schools and groups. There will be the chance to play with SEYSO at appropriate times and to join SEYSO as players progress.

More Information.

Tuition

SEYSO compliments the work of the players own school and instrumental music teachers.

There will be an emphasis upon orchestral performance, ensemble training and musicianship.

The tutorial staff are established music teachers who are also prominent players on the local music scene.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals are held in South Essex on Sundays with more intensive sessions held before concerts.

In addition to full orchestra, there are sectionals and tutorials in smaller groups.

Concerts

SEYSO performs regular concerts throughout the year usually April, July, September and the Christmas concert which is always on the 23rd December.

Throughout 2006, however, there were open performances at the end of the monthly workshops to which family and friends of the players were invited.

Associate members and professional musicians often perform alongside regular members at concerts ensuring that all sections of the orchestra play to a high standard and that less experienced players are supported.

Members also have the chance to perform solo / smaller group items at concerts.

Social

SEYSO prides itself on being a friendly orchestra and has social events to help people get to know each other better.

Recent events have included restaurant meals, laser games, steam train rides, cinema, and mid rehearsal food feasts...

Members appreciate the chance to make friends with fellow musicians outside of their school or college.

Beyond SEYSO

At the age of 21, many members join the Association to maintain their links with SEYSO and return to help out at rehearsals and concerts.

Many members go on to study at music college and university and play in professional and amateur orchestras. They often meet former members of the orchestra who they know from playing with the orchestra.

Many of the tutors are also former members of the orchestra and play music locally.
