Show Music Workshop

An orchestral workshop led by experienced players, to rehearse and then
perform show music such as :
Weber's Overture from Der Freischutz
An Oklahoma Selection
An Sullivan Opera Selection

Designed to train young musicians in the art of orchestral playing, develop
an awareness of music and to show how skilled interpretation transforms
a performance.
SEYSO provides orchestral training for young musicians aged 11 upwards
through a series of courses, workshop days and concerts featuring the
great classics as well as modern and baroque pieces.
Our 2006 programme includes an orchestral workshop on the last Sunday
in every month, under the direction of a team of experienced conductors,
exploring a variety of different styles.
New players are welcome to play with SEYSO.

| Biography - David
Stanley is a past musical director of SEYSO. David Stanley MMus BMus
(Hons) PGCE studied piano, percussion and conducting at The Guildhall
School of Music and Drama before completing a music degree with honours
from Kings College, London and The Royal Academy of Music (studying
piano under Patsy Toh). He holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Education
(Institute of Education) and achieved a Masters Degree in Musical
Analysis in 2000 (Kings College), specialising in the song style of
George Gershwin. David is Head of Music at The Eastwood Foundation
School, Director of Music for Whitehall
Performing Arts College and music teacher/consultant for Kingsdown
special school. He is the founder and co-ordinator of the highly successful
Southend Mencap Music School and Head of Kings
Music School. David is principal percussionist with the Essex
Concert Orchestra. He has been the Music Director for numerous
music theatre productions including A Funny Thing Happened On the
Way to the Forum, 42nd Street, an award winning production of Sweeney
Todd, Oklahoma!, Follies, Man of La Mancha, Into the Woods, Guys and
Dolls, The Melody Lingers On and the UK amateur premiere of Putting
It Together. David is the co-author of a series of successful educational
books for schools, entitled Badger Key Stage 3 Music published by
Badger Educational Books in 2004. David Stanley will appear as a music
teacher on the third series of That'll
